it seems that I always do this .. either take on too much all at one time or leave something I need to do very late. And that is how it is in this case again. I am still not finished with my master bedroom makeover and now I am working on another larger project ... namely a quilt.
It is my younger daughter Caylagh's birthday on June 13 when she will be 13 this year .. 2013! A lot of 13's I know and very neat. For her birthday she asked me if I could make her a quilt and I said yes of course. I haven't quilted in many years so I am a tiny bit 'rusty' but I am sure the quilt will turn out nicely.
Caylagh wanted me to design her a Union Jack quilt - not traditional but a bit more modern with non traditional colors. Together we went fabric shopping and the colors that she picked were shades of purple (plain and patterned), white and beige and they all look great together.
I made the design and yesterday I cut the first pieces out and today I have sewn them together already and all by hand ~ my fingers are sore right now. I have made 6 or 7 quilts over the years and I have never used a sewing machine. All the pieces are sewn together and quilted by hand and that is how this one is going to be made too and I am hoping that I will be able to finish it on time for Caylagh's birthday. After her birthday I will share the finished result with you, because even though she knows that I am making it I don't want her to see it completed before her birthday, I just want it to make her happy!
And last but not least ...
... I will be listing new items in my Etsy shop tomorrow. There will be more pincushions and maybe even my scissor pouches which I have created from the pattern I designed but I am not quite sure yet. So if you would like to know what is newly listed and if you have a spare moment why not visit my Etsy shop tomorrow and find out.
It was so nice that you visited me here at Todolwen and maybe you will visit me again some time in the future.
I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.
Have a peaceful and creative day,
Karen B.
